MODERN OLYMPIC GAMES

solo Exhibition by Daria fetisova . Exhibit8 Limassol . 9 - 24 february 2024

modern olympic games

A solo exhibition “Modern Olympic Games”  aims to support the tradition of bringing together art, sport and culture and to share the artist's vision of the modern Olympic Games.

Daria considers that our main goal in life is to continuously strive to achieve the ideal, which consists of a balance of beauty of mind, soul and body. However, the main resource for this is the will, unfortunately, it, or rather its absence, can lead to the fact that a person is unable to achieve something.

The motto of the Olympic Games is “Citius, Altius, Fortius – Communiter” (latin), meaning “Faster, Higher,Stronger - Together”. The word “together” was added to the original motto “Faster, Higher,Stronger” in 2021. This word is particularly significant because since the time of Ancient Greece, the Olympic Games have united the people, ending all wars and strife. Artistic expression was also an important part of the games. Sculptors, poets, painters and other craftsmen came to the games to demonstrate their work.

A series of canvases representing the different sports of the contemporary Olympic Games with fragments of Cypriot landscapes will be presented by Daria at the exhibition "Modern Olympic Games."  Additionally, a series of ceramic sculptures of gymnasts, pencil graphic works, a block of lithographs and lino prints will make up the show.
